Midnattsloppet
Few thought when the race started in 1982 that it twenty-nine years later would be loved far outside Stockholm, and Södermalms borders. The idea for the Midnattsloppet was born of some people from Hammarby, Stockholm who were out on a training round at the end of the 70th century. The Rio Carnevale stood as a model and the idea was based on combining sport and culture and to allow different generations meet.
A better place to host such an event than in Södermalm could hardly be found! Here we have the special Hammarby spirit and people who know how to invite to a party!
Twenty-nine years later, Midnattsloppet are now also in Gothenburg and Helsinki. Approximately 2 000 volunteers and a variety of partners are all working to keep Midnattsloppets position as the most fun race to be in.
What makes Midnattsloppet so exciting and unique is the late start time, the arrangements for the participants and the audience around the course and especially the mood and atmosphere that raises at a Midnattsloppet evening. We promise that you can not find the same feeling in any other arrangement.
On these page you will find information about the different Midnattslopp which we hope will create a curiosity and interest in wanting to be involved and participate. If it is as participants or spectators, you decide, but we want everyone to be in the party!
Very welcome!
